I've known about The Walker Treasury Project for a few weeks but have failed to mention it here. So a big Thank You to Maureen for mentioning it on her Blog.
In fact, I pulled out the first BW book last night to find a stitch to use to test this years KnittaPalooza colors. Terry owner of The Purled Llama, brought several more choices to Ewe Knit Kits & Yarn on Saturday in her "Sol" a DK wt superwash. I didn't hesitate when Bobbie asked me if I wanted half the skein to take home and test. The colors are very earthy. Burgandy, reds, browns, natural. Very very different that the last several years which were bright oranges, greens and purples.
If you didn't know, The Purled Llama dyes several of her yarns for KnittaPalooza in an exclusive color. A skein of this will be going home with me. It's time for a new "My Favorite Shawl"
Which by the way, is a new pattern from the WallisKnits label. It's being tested now. Pictures soon.

Overheard....
...while waiting for an appointment.
TallThinGal to ShortThinGal: Would you like to share a poptart?
ShortThinGal: Sure
Cabinet door heard opening, microwave humming and then a beep. TallThinkGal returns.
TallThinkGal to ShortThinGal: Here's your half. Thanks for splitting it with me. A whole poptart fills me up.
I am now craving poptarts. Not a half of one, but a package of two. Brown sugar and cinnamon without frosting. And a glass of milk.

Hmmm......
Well you guys are more upset about this than I am.
Have I become immune to the rudeness of 20somethings? Do I now expect it? It's rare that I meet (note I am not saying ALL) male or female in that age group that considers that there are others living in the world.
Like the 20something that is living with his mother down the street and parks his truck in front of the only fire hydrant that would be used for this half of the circle. (yes police have been notified)
Or the ones that come into the shop and talk on their cell phones and throw their money at you? (Well okay, they're not the only ones, adults do the same)
And the gal who hired or had the Navy hire, this moving company. Does she care about the first impression her new neighbors have of her? I mean, all the neighbors who stopped to chat with me mentioned that SHE shoud be doing something about it.
And perhaps I've been on the BOD of our Homeowners Association too long. I now expect trashcans left in the front of the house, fences put up without approval, and so much more you wouldn't believe.
Enough for tonight. PBS is showing part 2 of "Jane Eyre" and I've got a pair of socks to finish.
But thank you for your concerns.

Circles
Thank you for your concerns Kim and Bess. I did call and leave a message on the non-800 number for the owner to contact me on Monday. Didn't think of BBB. The company is from New Jersey. Are there seperate BBB for each state? I'll have to research.
But I did get the last laugh.....The street I live on is a circle of twists and turns and circles within circles and only 2 actual exits, neither of which look like they would take you anywhere and if you're not really paying attention you even miss the street signs for the streets that take you to a main street.
Bailey and I were taking our late afternoon walk around the circle when the moving van left. They passed us 5 times! Around and around they went. I'm assuming they found their way out, as I didn't see them on this mornings walk.
But today is another day. My drive is cleared. The newspaper was on my front porch. I made over-night french toast for breakfast. And it's our second Fake Isle class. It's going to be a good day!

by whose clock?
At about 9:15 this morning a moving van pulled up in front of my house. "Ah!" I though. "The female half of my new neighbors is finally moving in."
When I realized the moving van was not going to well, move to upblock my driveway, I went out and spoke to a moving guy. Moving Guy said "we'll be done in hour and a half".
"That's fine" I thought. "I can wait a while before leaving the house to fill the car with gas, stop at the library to see if the new Oprah book is on the shelf, see if Target has those block things that can be used for blocking and go to the grocery store."
At 1:30, I knocked on my new neighbors door, said "Welcome!" and asked that the van please be pulled up about 3 feet into the appx 30 feet of open curb where no driveway or car will be blocked, so that I could be off on my day's excursion.
Reluctantly it was moved. And on my way was I.
When I returned about 1 hour later (I skipped Target), the moving van had been moved once again to block my driveway. Sigh.
So I parked my car across the street, carted my groceries and library book and DVD's across the street while stopping to talk to neighbors walking their dogs or out for a stroll on this nice Saturday afternoon.
On my last trip, I asked the Moving Guy to please knock on my door to let me know when they're ready to leave so I can move my car to my gargae he called me a bitch.
Here's a picture of the moving van. I don't think I'll use this company on my next move.
