My plan

Woke up this morning to 2WD's 6am news. They said that no one has won the "big" lottery. The thought that I could win has actually been in my head all morning. I fixed lunch, walked B, showered, dressed, ate, drove to work while formulating my plan. Here it is:

1. get to a lawyer
2a. order a navy blue, convertible, automatic with tan leather seats VW Beetle
2b. turn in retirement papers
3. setup trust accounts for my family and friends and charity
4. buy a house on a beach somewhere
5. go through my house and decide what I wanted to keep (not much!) and then have an estate sales person sell the rest

I get into the office, open a local business periodical and found a picture of the house I want to build (see step 4). Then I get an email from Coco asking if I wanted to join the pool they're getting together to play this gigantic lottery. Is this a sign?

The "not wanting much from my house" is an interesting concept. I actually looked around and thought...the bedroom and dining room furniture (1920 oak), my books, my yarns, the quilts, a few of my Santa Bears, knic-nacks that my grandmother left, a few pieces of jewlrey and some clothes.

So does this mean that "stuff" is no longer necessary for me? Since I turned 50 I've begun thinking in terms of what will last? When I buy I think...how long will I be able to use this? Is it a throw away in a year or so? When will I tire of it? What purpose does it serve? Sheesch!


This is an interesting article I found over here. I'm an introvert. I don't mind public speaking, like Sunday afternoons alone and I dislike big parties. Give me 5 or 6 people at a time that I know or have something in common with and I can handle it. That's why I tend to be on the outside of large groups. Hang out at the wall and observe.

My nieces shawl is coming along nicely. On the last 20 or so rows. Should be finished tonight. Must decide if I want to add fringe.

My first design for KnittaPalooza Felted class is done and felted. Turned out a bit larger than I wanted. So I'm on to try #2.

And how was last Saturday at Ewe Knit Kits? BUSY! Lots of husbands, SO's and boyfriends in with their ladies. We sold a ton of yarn.

Off to buy a lottery ticket........

Bat those eyelashes

Made a call to Ewe Knit Kits earlier today to ask a question (more on that in a minute) and I could barely hear Bobbie. Lotsa people shopping...Thursday, 10:30 a.m. you know. Bobbie mentioned that the eyelash had come in. People were buying it by the boxes. I asked her to please save a box or two of Black for Saturday. I HATE having to tell shoppers...sorry, we sold out...and then I picture ladies who purchased on Thursday in dark parking lots selling it out of the back of their mini-vans and BMW's.

And on to KnittaPalooza news. I'll be teaching a class. Felting. Friday afternoon. 3 hours. I'm designing a purse/clutch. I hope someone signs up. Bring your own washer. There will be homework.

All team meetings will now be held at Neverland.

So another super busy Saturday at Ewe Knit Kits and Yarn. Yarn companies are really behind on shipments. The store looks positively empty. And what does come in flys out.

Update on the new location: Office walls are up and new lighting is being installed.

Remember that Manos I purchased a while ago? It's finally found the right stitch and is a scarf with fringe....for me. Summer Sweater has become monotonous. So I've begun a scarf/shawl for my niece using Henry's Attic in a natural color. I'm making up the design as I go along using yo and k2tog's.

It kept me entertained me during the Grammy's....Sting in a kilt certainly didn't.

And another one is over already!

Weekends fly by don't they?

My backyard is very barren. Not much green left. And I can see over my fence into my neighbors yards now....must remember to put on a robe when I run out the back door.

Baby News My niece is expecting her first child. My mothers first great grand baby. I have a reason to pull out those baby patterns now.

Friday night I put Summer Sweater on 2 circulars so I could see how wide it would be. Yikes! The sweater is oversized but Yikes! I remeasured my favorite baggy sweater and then Summer and then remeasured and then layed all out on the floor and compared. Summer was restarted in a smaller size. Haven't ripped out what I've completed, just begun on a new ball of yarn.

Where is all the yarn that was ordered? Ewe Knit Kits and Yarn shelves are almost empty! I could've sold black eyelash for 10 times the retail price on Saturday! As it was, the moss green flew out of the store .... boxes of it. It's going to be a green spring.

It was a busy Saturday. From 1 until 5 there were 4 of us selling and one teaching. And there was always a line of people waiting to check out. And that's a good thing!

Felting has won as the next "big" thing. Wool flew out of the store and my Saturday felting class is full. Cascade is also on order. Suppliers can't keep up.

And knitting needles.....thank heavens for our local needle maker. He brought in 16 sets of 15's and 17's at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday....they didn't stay in the store more than 2 hours.

Justin, Justin, Justin....don't get caught up in cheap tricks..you're too talented, sweet cheeks!

Yard work...work work...and knitting

The Landscape guys are here now doing the yearly tree trimming. Crepe Myrtles are looking lean. I'm having them dig up a Star Magnolia that wasn't doing well where it was planted 3 years ago. He's going to take it. It'll survive in someone else's yard. And, and this just about killed me, we took the gardenia's (I have 6 bushes) from over 6 ft to about 3ft...ahhhh....and yes I know it's not the right time of year, but by doing it now we'll have good growth this summer. I'll miss my showy bushes this summer but next year should be bigger and more fragrent.

It's been nice to work work from home today.

And the Summer Sweater is coming along nicely. Both front and back open work is done and pressed. I'm just knitting away now. This will take some time.

I've never been much of a football fan. I couldn't get a way from Sunday TV games growing up what with 3 brothers, 1 father and 1 sister in love with the game, so I have nothing to write about in regards to the SuperBowl. Although the bank is now sponsoring the stadium the Panthers play in. Bonus? What bonus?

Received my order from Knit Picks last night. Several skeins of the Jamieson Spindrift (lemon, leprechaun and royal) and Knitting In the Old Way. I swatched the lemon Spindrift and decided to order more for the shawl. And of course I couldn't just order that....so 9 more skeins of Spindrift, 2 skeins of K2C2 sport in a pale yellow and the Circular Solution will be in my hands in 7-14 days. I think it's K2C2, it's on sale and I've never used it and at 198 yds per skein it's a good deal. And don't ask why more yellow, last summer it was purple.

Sally's Favorite Summer Sweater is coming right along. I'll finish the front's open work tonight and then will move onto the opaque rows.

I have been enjoying the long evenings. After walking B and eating dinner, it's knitting, the newspaper and tv in front of the fire.
